S'more Rice Krispie Treats are bursting with marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate chunks. Enjoy all of the best parts of the traditional campfire treat without any bonfire or the ooey gooey mess!
These treats can be whipped together in about ten minutes and only require a few simple ingredients. hey cool quickly and are ready to serve for your next picnic, barbecue, bake sale, or just for an afternoon snack.
These treats freeze extremely well too. After they have cooled and are sliced, store them in a freezer-safe ziplock bag and place them in the freezer. They will stay fresh and delicious for months! Simply remove from the freezer and thawfor twenty minutes before serving. They can also be stored in an airtight container for 1 to 2 days.
Let mixture cool very slightly, about 30 seconds to a minute. Stir in graham cracker crumbs, chocolate chunks, and extra mini marshmallows until evenly distributed throughout Rice Krispie mixture. If you add chocolate before treats have cooled slightly, then chocolate will completely melt into the treats, changing look and texture. If you wait too long for them to cool, then you will not be able to stir in the chocolate chunks, marshmallows, and graham crackers.
Great Recipe! I of course added my own spin to it ;. I used the same measurements for the butter, marshmallows, and rice cereal. However, I added a capful of milk, splash of vanilla, heaping spoon of peanut butter, and then to crown it off some peanut butter m&m's! AMAZING. I aslo used the microwave suggestion.. xcellent. I would suggest either using a smaller pan though or doubling the batch as others suggested. Have fun with this classic recipe!
This recipe was great! I used non-colored rice crispies, then as the marshmallow was melting I added red food coloring to it. I also laid them out on the pan a little thinner than instructed. Once they were dry, I cut them into heart shapes, and put two hearts together with peanut butter in the middle for a little marshmallow sandwich. They are adorable and taste great! Plus, they are pink for Valentine's Day!
I made Christmas Trees out of this batch. I got about 10 using a 3. tree cookie cutter. Follow directions as is, don't forget to butter a 9X13 pan, press the rice crispies down firmly with buttered hands, place in the refridgerator for about 15-20 minutes. You should get 7 trees first, then you need to take the leftover rice crispie, press firmly together, until you reach as many trees as you can get. I placed them back in the refridgerator for another 20 minutes, heating up white premier chocolate morsals, then dipped only 1 side of each tree, immediately decorate each one as you go by. Place back in the refridgerator so the chocolate can firm up. Place in holiday cello wrap/ribbon. All set! I added a picture so you can see the final result. Picture #49
I have used this for Popcorn Balls as well. Just substitute the cereal with popped corn. And you can add food coloring or flavoring to the butter marshmallows. Then just form into balls with greased hands. You will probably want to double or triple the recipe. Much tastier than the Karo syrup kind!
Double the recipe and after putting it in the pan quickly while the mixture is still hot but spread across the 9x13 pan sprinke with about 2 cups of mini m ms. Or sprinkle with a combination of milk chocolate morsels and white chocolate morsels. Press them firmly into the rice crispy mixture and let cool.. heap, easy, and very yummie. ids love it.
I added vanilla and pink die. Thank you makeiteasy4me. I have always made hard as rock crispy treats but with your tips this was awsome. Cook everything on low low low and just be patient for the ingredients to melt.

We realize there are plenty of Rice Krispies treat recipes on the internet, and even on the back of the box, but we have a few VERY good reasons why this is the only one you need. Most are just dump and stir, then pack into a pan. Easy, right? Oker. First all, never pack into the pan. That's how you get tough Rice Krispies treats that cut the roof of your mouth and leave you questioning why you ever liked them in the first place. Here are a few fail-proof tips for the best Rice Krispies treat of your life.
When you want a Rice Krispies treat, there's no pretending you want something that's good for you. This is a treatand it's meant to be extra-buttery and delicious. The butter will coat everything together and make sure your Rice Krispies treats are never dry and dull. For even better Rice Krispies treats, we sometimes brown our butter before adding the marshmallows. It makes the treats utterly irresistible. Brown butter will make your treats stand out and give them a nutty, deep, kind of vanilla-like flavor. Plus, the brown specks make them look so pretty!
Again, don't hold back. Using twice as much marshmallow gives you treats that are chewy instead of stiffthe kind you can pull apart instead of snapping in half. We also continue to cook our marshmallows a little longer, after they've melted. This gives your treats a beautiful caramelized flavor. Keep going until your marshmallows turn a little golden. The more patient you are the more the flavor will develop and the better your rice krispies will be!
Salt is good. Salt is flavor. Adding a little salt will help cut through the sweetness and provide just a hint of savory. Your treats will by no meanbe salty, but all the flavors will play better together. If you like a little salt and sugar combo, go ahead and double the salt. Idare you.
Just to really make sure you're listening, I repeat:Don't pack the pan! After pouring the Rice Krispies into your pan, simply smooth the top. Alittle pressure is fine, a lot of pressure is not. Over-packing will cause hard, dense Rice Krispies treats that are dried out, and no one wants that. To smooth the top you can use a silicone spatula or place a piece of parchment on top and then smooth with your hand. It's helpful to prevent the gooey marshmallow from sticking to everything! If using a spatula you can wet it slightly or spray with a little nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Step 10: Spoon the mixture into a 913 pan. Â You dont need to grease the pan, the butter in the Rice Krispie Treats will allow the squares to easily release from the pan. tep 11: Lightly press the mixture into the pan. You dont want to press the mixture down too compactly, just smooth the top with a spatula or butter your fingers and pat down the top.
We have found that the secret to soft and amazing Rice Krispie Treats is Fresh Marshmallows. Fresh Marshmallows do not stick together. They do not stick together when you take them out of the bag. They pour easily into the measuring cup. If you have ever had Rice Krispie Treats that are a bit too hard and crunchy, the culprit is usually old marshmallows, so save the old ones for the hot chocolate and use a new bag for this recipe.
