Whats so great about making homemade purees?
The best part about making homemade strawberry puree is that its super quick and you know exactly what ingredients are in it! This recipe, is so simple and the only ingredient is are strawberries. No added sugars or thickeners, just whole fruit, pureed to the perfect consistency.
Because this puree is so simple, its one of my favorites to make when putting together homemade baby food. You can easily roast the strawberries or add mint to the puree, but my favorite way to make it is the simplest way. Pureeing frozen strawberries and then storing for later usage.
Either one works great, although I prefer using frozen berries for two reasons. First its more economical and second I can get them all year long. f using fresh strawberries, look for dark berries that are still firm. You want the freshest berries you can find!
What goes with strawberry puree for babies?
This puree is great in lots of other recipes besides homemade baby food. You can mix it into no churn ice cream. Add it to homemade buttercream, add frozen puree to smoothies, pour it over pancakes instead of syrup or mix it into yogurt. You can even add the strawberry puree into drinks if you are feeling fancy. Think strawberry lemonade cocktails for the adults or strawberry milk for the kiddos.
