This recipe uses lots of fresh veggies that you will roast in the skillet together with an Italian sausage. Fresh veggies is what makes this pasta dish so special. As well as Cajun seasoning. And the splash of red wine. Below is the list of what you need:

Variations of this kind of Italian sausage pasta are endless - you can use all kinds of vegetables, different kinds of pasta, all sorts of spices. In this recipe, I am using Italian sausage for meat and Cajun seasoning for spice. You couldn't come up with the easier and simpler combination of ingredients than that!

This Slow Cooker Sausage Alfredo is loaded with flavor. It is a great low-carb option for dinner any night of the week. Savory Italian Sausage is cooked with a low-carb and gluten-free pasta alternative then combined with a deliciously easy alfredo sauce. It is easy and destined to be a slow cooker favorite.

How many ways do you love your slow cooker? Oh I could count a ton of ways I love mine, but Ill spare you that list and tell you that if youre needing a new recipe to rekindle the love of your slow cooker this is a great one.  

The Italian sausage is so savory and juicy making it a great alternative to traditional chicken alfredo. Both the sausage and easy alfredo sauce give the dish so many layers of flavor! I love how it all comes together in four hours while I work on other tasks.

The only ingredient out of these listed that you may not be able to find locally is the Palmini Pasta, but more and more people are telling me they have access to them at local stores. I find mine at our health food store.

Can you use an instant pot instead of a slow cooker for this recipe?

While I wouldnt recommend you toss out your Slow Cooker and replace it with an Instant Pot for all slow cooker recipes, this Low Carb Sausage Alfredo works fine in an Instant Pot using the Slow Cooker Function.

After I browned my sausage links, I poured over the rest of the ingredients and placed the Glass Lid on my Instant Pot and adjusted the cook settings to Normal and let it go for four hours. It worked out perfectly.

Ill talk more about the noodles I use in this recipe in the next section, but since the slow cooker doesnt use pressure it will not make these noodles super soft, so follow the directions on the back of the package if you want them to be more than al dente when this recipe is ready to serve.

What pasta works best for this low carb sausage alfredo?

But they arent really pasta at all because they are made from 100 Hearts of Palm. For those not familiar with Heart of Palm, it is a white vegetable obtained from the center of specific varieties of a palm tree.

These noodles have a very mild to neutral flavor, which is a plus for me because some low-carb pasta options like the konjac noodles have a very off-putting smell. That means no rinsing for these noodles and since they really dont have a flavor they soak up the flavors you add to them.

Since these are veggie noodles, it is only natural that they will have a different texture than traditional wheat noodles. They have a bit of a crunch to them and even after cooking them for 4 hours in the slow cooker, they are still firmer than regular pasta would be.

We dont mind the extra texture, but there are some people who may prefer to boil the Palmini noodles before adding them to their recipes. This gives the palm noodles a softer texture, but it will add some cooking time because youll have to parboil them before adding them to the slow cooker.

One option would be boiling the noodles and browning the sausage the night before while you are cooking dinner, then you could quickly assemble the ingredients in the slow cooker the next day when you are ready to set it and forget it.

This past week, I grabbed one of my favorite go-to ingredients for quick meals some Hillshire Farm smoked sausage at Giant, along with some fresh veggies, fresh tortellini, and some Alfredo sauce. I had an idea in my head for a quick meal that sounded perfect for the end of the summer when there are so many garden-fresh vegetables available. I didnt realize just how delicious or popular it would be, though.

Hori da! Sounds easy, right? Start by boiling your choice of noodles and sautéeing the veggies and sausage in some olive oil. Then chop up the sausage, stir it back into the veggies with the noodles, add more olive oil and spices, combine and serve. Orduan, zer zain zaude? You might even have all of the ingredients on hand. Make this for dinner tonight and enjoy!

Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over low-medium heat. Saut sausage, onion and pepper in 2 tbsp olive oil over low-medium heat for about 8-10 minutes, stirring around often, until the sausage is cooked through.

Ulertzen dut! After a long day at work, endless after school activities to get kids to and from and all the other errands, the last thing you want to do is spend an hour on your feet making complicated multiple-steps dinner. Sometimes you need fast, easy, but stillreally goodfood.

When it comes to adding protein to my easy meals, al fresco all natural fully-cooked chicken sausage is my go-to choice. Step : saut mushrooms, zucchini, and red bell pepper for minutes

Ingredient notes for step 1: Feel free to use other types of mushrooms. To save prep time, you can probably find all three of the veggies here pre-sliced. You can also omit any of the veggies in this recipe. Just know the serving sizes and nutrition info will be affected.

Step : add garlic, cherry tomatoes, and chicken sausages and saut another minutes

Give everything a stir and let it hang out again. The cherry tomatoes should begin to wrinkle around the 5-minute mark. You want them to stay mostly whole so avoid completely mashing them with your spatula.

Ingredient notes for step 3: If youve tried my Cajun Sausage Pasta Bake, youll be familiar with the light alfredo and marinara combo. There are dairy-free alfredo options out there, but you could also omit and use more marinara in its place. Another alfredo replacement might be a low fat ricotta like I used in my Beef Cannelloni recipe. For the pasta, you could use a lower carb option like the Banza chickpea shells I used for my Taco Pasta Bake.

Kind of a mouthful? And also, admittedly, kind of a lie. But just a little white lie. Because at the end of the day, this recipe is six ingredients, although do we even count olive oil as an ingredient? I think we all have that on hand.

Oliba olioa. Again, this is a freebie ingredient as Im assuming most households these days have this on hand. Any kind will work whether its extra-virgin or regular olive oil. If you dont have olive oil on hand, coconut oil or canola oil can work as well.

Eggplant. Eggplant can be a scary ingredient, but for this easy Pasta with Chicken Sausage it couldnt be easier to prepare. Look for an eggplant thats smooth and shiny. It shouldnt look shriveled or old.

Pesto. n the winter, Im all about a store-bought pesto, obviously. But this time of year, my garden is overflowing with basil, so I always have homemade pesto on hand. If youre lucky like me, then trust me, and skip the store-bought pesto for this recipe, and make this easy fool-proof pesto. I know its an extra few ingredients, but its SO easy, and packed with just a little bit more lemon and parmesan than your typical basil pesto, which I love here.
